Date: 13 Dec 2017

Venue: West African Province

On the 25th November, 2017, twenty-eight Brothers of the West Africa Province (WAP) gathered on Mt. St Joseph’s Novitiate in Logre, for the launching of the 28th Congregation chapter 2017 document. After Morning Prayer, Br. Paul Atole Enokela, who was a delegate, shared his experiences of the chapter with the Brothers.

Br. Joseph Mukasa, the member of the Congregation Leadership Team (CLT) in charge of the WAP, took the Brothers through chapter theme: “Pilgrim Brothers with the compassionate Christ in an evolving world”. He then introduced and explained step by step the five thematic areas of the chapter statement:

  • Identity and mission
  • Community
  • Leadership
  • Care for people made poor
  • Care of the earth.

Launching the Chapter Statement, the Congregation Leader Br. Francis Agoah urged the Brothers to breathe fresh life into it, to make it a living and active document. He then encouraged the Brothers in the young Province of the congregation to practice daily communal reflections and Gospel sharing to enhance community prayer life. He also discussed with the Brothers the outline of the CLT action plan which includes: workshops, retreats, visitations, and resource management among others, to support the Brothers’ practice and to live out the ideals of the chapter statement.

He then declared the document duly launched in the WAP and the two CLT members presented to each Brother a copy of the chapter statement and the prayer of Mary of the Presentation.

He informed the gathering that the CLT will hold an extended leadership meeting in Ghana from the 7th -15th January 2018.
