Br Martin calls for prayers for Nigeria

Date: 29 May 2014

Our Congregation Leader, Brother Martin Kenneally, has written to all Presentation Brothers' communities and to members of the Presentation Family asking for prayers for the situation in Nigeria.

We have two communities of Brothers in the country, one of which is in Bauchi State - an area affected by the Boko Haram violence. You can read all about our involvement there in the Focus on Nigeria special feature.

Brother Martin has asked that each community to pray for the situation, particularly around the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday 8th June. A prayer service (pdf) has been made available. This can be used for ‘Morning Prayer’, ‘Evening Prayer’ or as part of a ‘Holy Hour’. Br Martin writes:

"Let us pray for our Brothers, friends, staff and students who continue with great courage to live and work in this very difficult context.

On behalf of the entire Congregation, I express solidarity with our Brothers, our Presentation Family and the people of Nigeria at this time.  I assure them of our prayers, our love and our support.

The suggested prayer service I have sent to you can be adapted to local circumstances and I encourage you to share it with other Religious, Associates and friends.

I am asking every community in the Congregation to pray for peace for the people of Nigeria.  We pray also for the protection and care of our Brothers and Presentation Family."
