Brothers welcome Missionaries of Charity in Toronto
Date: 23 Jun 2014
Our Brothers at the Parkdale community in Toronto received a visit from the Missionaries of Charity recently. The Brothers have been working with the Sisters on their Wednesday night food runs each week in the city.
The food run seeks out and offers a hot meal to the homeless on the streets of Toronto. The Sisters prepare two separate meals on Wednesday nights; one for distribution at their residence for the the poor and needy in the local area and boxed meals for the nightly food run. As many as 90 people are fed on any given night.
Sr. Tanya, the local Community Leader, has now been transferred to the Missionaries of Charity's house in Washington DC where they operate a home for HIV/AIDS patients, a house of formation and a soup kitchen. We wish Sr. Tanya well as she begins her new assignment, and we look forward to supporting the Sisters in their ministry into the future.
