PresLink Christmas Concert a Stunning Success
Date: 14 Dec 2016
The PresLink Christmas Concert in PBC Cork on Sunday evening 11th December 2016 was a stunning success. The Dan Donovan Theatre was filled to capacity for a beautiful evening in the festive spirit.
Guests were entertained by two choirs – the City of Cork Male Voice Choir and Cantate. A range of wonderful individual artists - of all ages - added to an evening of musical delights.
On arrival people were welcomed by mince pies, mulled wine and fruit punch. A raffle was held with lots of sponsored prizes. The Bodhran Bookills from St. Joseph’ s N.S., Mardyke began the evening with a high energy performance of Bodhran playing. Br. Martin Kenneally, Congregation Leader, spoke on the role of PresLink and the work of the Brothers and the Presentation Family in Africa.
The star of the evening was 4th Year student and PresLink Committee member, Kevin Jansson. Kevin is a rising young star in the classical music world, being equally gifted at both piano and violin. Kevin gave an outstanding performance of both classical and traditional Irish pieces on the violin. Then he amazed the audience with a stunning performance of pieces from Liszt and Rachmaninoff on the piano which led to a well- deserved standing ovation.
Kevin had just won a major European competition held in Serbia and very generously made a special effort to get back to Cork in time to perform at the PresLink Concert.
Thanks to the Students of PresLink and the Staff who support them for this wonderful effort in support of the Brothers' missions. Thanks to all who so generously gave of their time over many weeks preparing for this year’s wonderful Christmas concert. Well done!
Finally, PresLink will be bag-packing for schools in Africa in Dunnes Stores, Bishopstown, Cork next weekend. Please support them!
