St Joseph's N.S., Mardyke, wins Colm Cooper Tournament in Killarney
Date: 14 Jun 2015
Congratulations to St Joseph's N.S., Mardyke, Cork, who were crowned the 2015 Colm Cooper Cup winners on Friday (12th June) in Killarney.
The Colm Cooper Cup football competition began in 2014 and is contested among primary schools with a connection to the Presentation Brothers.
Here is a report on the tournament, courtesy of "The Mon" school's website:
During the opening games it looked like Chríost Rí and St Joseph's were the teams to beat.
As it transpired, the Mon made it through to one semi-final where they came a cropper to an impressive Chríost Rí side.
On the other side it was St Joseph's who emerged victorious setting up a Cork derby in the final.
The final was a great tussle between two very good sides. It was St Joseph's, however, who did enough to get over the line and win the 2015 Colm Cooper Cup.
Kerry great - and holder of four All Ireland medals - Colm Cooper, was on hand to congratulate the winning team.
Another Kerry footballer and former Mon Boy, Johnathan Lyne, also dropped by and held a target kicking competition on behalf of Lee Strand for a signed Kerry football.
Plenty of photos from the day on "The Mon" school's website.
