Two First Professions in Ghana

Brothers Vitalis Maaborkuu and Vincent Danikuu have been made their First Profession of Vows at Mount St. Joseph Novitiate in Lgore – Kongo in the Navrongo Bolgatanga Diocese during a special Mass celebrated by Fr Lawrence, a Capuchin priest from India. The vows were made in the presence of the Province Leader, Brother Francis Agoah.

In his reflection, Brother Valerius Sandow reminded the two brothers to be professed of the importance of their response to the evangelical counsels and the religious obligations as Presentation Brothers.

The two brothers to pronounce vows were presented to the Province Leader by the Novice Director, Br. Godfrey, who has just taken over from Brother Joe Mukasa after a short holiday in Ireland.

The parents of the two newly professed Brothers presented their sons as part of the ceremony. Brother Francis then enquired from the young men of their readiness to pronounce vows as Presentation Brothers.

They were then allowed to pronounce vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience in accordance with the Presentation Brothers way of life.

In his closing remarks Brother Francis conveyed the good will and congratulations of the Congregation Leader, Brother Martin Kennelly to the parents of Brothers Vitalis and Vincent and all those who have helped in one way or the other in the formation process. He also asked for constant prayerful support for all the Presentation Brothers, most especially these newly professed brothers as they minister in the Lord’s vineyard.

It was also announced that Brother Vitalis will be a member of the Tafawa Balewa community in Nigeria while Brother Vincent will be a member of the Bolgatanga community.

Brother Francis noted that a majority of the Presentation Brothers are from the Upper West Region and he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parents of Vitlalis and Vincent and all the people of that district for encouraging their young people to follow the Presentation Brothers way of life in the service of the Catholic Church.

In light of this reality he announced that this September Brothers Emmanuel Aminenta and Philip Tengan would move in to Han in the Upper West Region to start the first community of Presentation Brothers in the region. He also encouraged the parents to visit the Brothers’ communities as this would be a way of establishing good relations between the Brothers and the parents of their fellow community members.
